The Guild of Psychotherapists

 
The Guild is a professional and training organisation run by, and for, psychoanalytic psychotherapists.

Members share values including respect for diversity and offer both normal and low-cost psychotherapy services throughout the UK, including a a low-cost clinic in Waterloo.

Founded in 1974 by practitioners from diverse backgrounds, the Guild aims to foster independent thought and creative development in psychotherapy. It offers a four-year training course in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, an introductory course, and supervision training.

 

The Guild has grown to over 250 members and trainees bound by a Code of Ethics, becoming a widely recognized and respected organization. It is a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the primary national body for psychotherapy registration and regulation.

Maintaining its pluralistic tradition, the Guild values and promotes various psychoanalytic perspectives. This approach aligns with its founding principles of fostering independence, inquiry, and creativity for the benefit of both the profession and those seeking psychological support.
